SAM HENDERSON
WRITER/DIRECTOR
Sam Henderson received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from Baylor University and his Master of Fine Arts in Acting through the University of San Diego. He is an award-winning writer/director who was recently named one of 25 Screenwriters to Watch by Austin Film Festival and MovieMaker Magazine. His most recent film, ADO, won the HBO Film Award and stars Hollywood veteran, Jenifer Lewis, with cinematography by AMPAS member, Eric Branco. The short also highlights Sam’s passion for character-driven stories that explore the innermost parts of humanity – stories that meet people where they are and help redefine the most meaningful functions of our community. His previous short film, BREAK, shot on black and white 35mm, premiered at the Oscar-qualifying Austin Film Festival. Prior to that, his film, Con Alma, premiered at the Oscar-qualifying, RSF Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival and went on to become an official selection at the Oscar-qualifying St. Louis International Film Festival, as well. Sam made his first foray into television writing by winning the Cine Pitchfest, Sponsored by the A+E Network, with the teleplay, The Walls. The Walls won a direct pitch to A+E’s Director of Scripted Programming.
