Gem Little is a Los Angeles-based writer and producer who gravitates toward genre-forward narratives that explore complex family dynamics and the unsettling presence of secrets or threats hiding in plain sight—often with a sense of humor and a sharp emotional core. With nearly a decade of experience across film, TV, branded content, and commercials, Gem is currently developing several original features, including one actively being pitched to producers and financiers. Her original short Pens & Pencils earned an HBO Short Film Award, an NAACP Image Award nomination, and is streaming on MAX. She has supported development at MACRO and ARRAY Filmworks and currently works with Patrick Somerville as Showrunner’s and Writers’ Assistant (Glass Hotel, Unfollow). She is an alumna of the Athena Film Festival Writers Lab and a recipient of the Black Producers Fellowship (Cinereach, Wavelength, Black TV & Film Collective). Originally from Chicago, Gem holds an MFA in Producing from AFI, an MA in Urban Planning, and a BA in Journalism and Public Relations.
